Schmidt Science Fellow (2020)
PhD (Mechanical engineering), Stanford University
M.S (Engineering Mechanics), JNCASR, Bangalore, India
B.E (Hons) Mechanical engineering, BITS-Pilani, India
Research Interests: Biophysics, Engineering for Biology, Fluid mechanics, Tracking Microscopy, Soft-matter physics
My background is in engineering, fluid mechanics and organismal biophysics. I have worked on diverse problems including swimming mechanics of the schistosomiasis parasite and Emergent cell mechanics in protists.
During my PhD, I co-invented and developed Scale-free Vertical Tracking-Microscopy (aka Gravity Machine), a novel technique allowing multi-scale (microns to meters) measurements of planktonic organisms and single-cells while preserving an ecological context.
I enjoy using a combination of Experiments, Computation and Theory, to explore scientific questions .
